Sponsored Work Visas.

If you don’t qualify for the Skilled Migration Visa and have the relevant qualification, skills, and experience, then you need an Australian employer Sponsorship or Nomination to apply for a temporary visa to live & work in Australia.

 

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482)

This visa is to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can't source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

You can…

  • You can work for up to 2 years or up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation (ITO) applies

  • travel to and from Australia as many times as you want while the visa is valid

  • if eligible, apply for permanent residence

You must…

  • be nominated to work in an occupation on the list of eligible short-term skilled occupations

  • have at least 2 years relevant work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field

  • have a relevant skills assessment if this is required for your occupation

  • work only for your sponsor or associated entity, unless you are exempt

  • meet the relevant English language proficiency, unless you are exempt

Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS) (subclass186)

This visa lets skilled workers, who are nominated by an employer, live and work in Australia permanently.

You can…

  • stay permanently

  • sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia

  • apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible

You must…

  • have an occupation that is on the list of eligible skilled occupations

  • have at least 3 years relevant work experience, unless you are exempt

  • have a positive skills assessment, unless you are exempt

Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (Provisional) (subclass 494)

This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can't source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

You can…

  • live, work and study only in designated regional areas of Australia for 5 years

  • travel to and from Australia as many times as you want while the visa is valid

  • You can apply for permanent residence after 3 years from the time your visa is granted

You must…

  • be nominated to work in an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list

  • have at least 3 years relevant work experience in your nominated occupation

  • have a relevant skills assessment, unless an exemption applies

  • work only for your sponsor or associated entity, unless an exemption applies

  • be under 45 years of age, unless an exemption applies

  • meet minimum standards of the English language proficiency

 

Workplace Training (subclass 407)

This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, a field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia. This is a temporary visa and you might be granted a visa allowing you to stay in Australia for up to 2 years.

You can…

  • visit Australia to complete a workplace-based  training (to improve your skills for your current occupation, area of tertiary study or field of expertise), or a professional development training program

You must…

  • be sponsored

  • be nominated (unless your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency)

  • be invited (if your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency)
